The Brian Jonestown Massacre é un proxecto musical e banda estadounidense creada e liderada por Anton Newcombe. Fundouse no ano 1990 na cidade de San Francisco.
O grupo foi o obxecto do documental de 2004Dig!, e gañou notoriedade nos medios polas súas tumultuosas relacións laborais e polo comportamento errático de Newcombe.[1] Ata a data o colectivo publicou 18 álbums, cinco recompilatorios, cinco discos ao vivo, 13 EPs e 16 sinxelos, ademais de dous recompilatorios de varios artistas.
O nome da banda foi referencia tanto a Brian Jones, o falecido membro dos Rolling Stones como á masacre de Jonestown en 1978.[2][3]
When we first met The Brian Jonestown Massacre some years ago in Anton's studio in Berlin, we were blown away by the bands' live sound and not able to record. Mar 14, 2019 Brian Jonestown Massacre burst into 2019 with the release of their 18th full-length album, just 7 months after their last one. It was recorded and produced at Anton s Cobra Studio in Berlin.The album was originally going to be released in September, but due to a hugely successful global tour taking in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand. As one of the most consistently prolific songwriters of the past 25 years, Anton Newcombe needs little by way of introduction. In the last 18 months alone he's he's either written, contributed to or overseen the release of four records, three of which were with his band The Brian Jonestown Massacre, themselves on album number 15 since putting out debut Spacegirl And Other Favorites back in 1993.
